Subject: Tom Boy Blues
Dear Fashionable One,
I got a really short haircut over the summer so I wouldn't have to deal with swim caps on my swim team. We won all of our local championships and it's been so hot - I haven't really missed my longer hair. I've just been shopping for back-to-school clothes and I love (and bought) some of the new boyish knicker looks. The only problem is that with my new hair, I look more like a boy, instead of a foxy tomboy. What do I do?
Girl Not Boy

Dear Foxy Tomboy To Be,
Sometimes it's very hard to remember that "you are you and not your hairdo". And in these high-pressured times of homework and homeroom, these can be words to live by.
It really is just hair and it really will grow back. In the meantime, girly up your tomboy looks with some lacy vintage inspired blouses - or a pretty ribbon choker that unmistakably says "GIRL" loud and clear - even when everything else says "boy".
Other girly enhancers include sparkly pink lip gloss and a light coat of upper lash mascara. If you really want to up your girly girl ratio - you need to arm yourself with some unmistakably girly ammunition:
• Get a coupla cute girly hair barrettes. Wear 'em when you need an easy girly lift.
• Tie a velvet ribbon around your neck for Victorian verve.
• Get a few "sweater girl" cardigans to wear over lacy little T's and camisoles in the fall.
• Keep pale pink lip gloss within reach at all times.
